To read DVDs, you will require DVDx "normal" / "default" install. To read external drives at USB 2.0 speeds, you will also need the custom cIOS USB2 modified by the Mplayer CE team, which can be found on the Mplayer CE downloads page. If you install this, then you do not require a DVDx install at all.
(Please note that this requires a internet connection).
The installer is for Homebrew USB2 only, this will install IOS202 using base IOS60 automatically. You can select the IOS to use to do the installation, so you can select a IOS with the fake sign bug. (IOS60 is downloaded to SD via the Nintendo's Update Server).
We are using IOS60 as a base as there has been improvements in wifi. Those that install this cIOS do not require a DVDx installation.
Users without the fakesign bug cannot install the cIOS to use USB2. There is a work around for this but we cannot advise about it. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it.
If you plan on updating make sure to install the cIOS and DVDx before updating.
IOS202 поддерживает ТОЛЬКО первый порт ("Port0"). USB-HDD и USB-Flash следует подсоединять ТОЛЬКО в этот порт.
Во второй порт ("Port1") все остальные устройства (микрофон, клавиатуру, мышь, USB-LAN адаптер и т.д.).
Всем, у кого есть проблемы с определением USB носителей в MPlayerCE!
Распаковываем в "sd:/apps/usb_test/boot.dol", запускаем через HBC;
В корне SD появится файл "log_usb2.txt", открываем его любым текстовым редактором и копируем содержимое сюда;
Отписываем сюда и сюда (issue 362) с указанием ссылки на результат теста, сути проблемы, "производителя+модели харда/флешки/флешплеера" и версий "MPlayerCE+IOS202".
Установка
Скопируйте папку "mplayer_ce" в директорию "apps" на SD карте и запустите через HBC. Не переименовывайте папку.

Now open it up, and type the following Title ID in the title box 0000000100000024 then in the version box type 1042
Now press download, and it will download and create a directory with the files of IOS36. Now repeat the above but this time in the Title ID box, type in 000000010000003C with the version of 6174
Once downloaded, you should have 2 separate directories with the files of IOS36 and IOS60.
Now grab your'e SD Card and structure your'e SD "exactly" like the image below shows (this is for IOS36 v1042 files)
Followed by the structure of IOS60 v6174
Once your'e SD is structured correctly like the 2 images above show, go and insert the SD into the Wii, Launch The cIOS Installer, and select any IOS you please to do the installation, this will now use the files from the SD Card to install IOS202 without need for wifi. I have tested this offline method and if structured as iv'e told, you won't hit a problem Hope it works out for you. If you recieve errors, you have either not structured your'e SD correctly like iv'e shown or you may need to remove any previous IOS202 installation via Any Title Deleter, then retry.
Improved memory management: fixes MPlayer hanging if out of memory.
OSD level 3 now shows mem1 and mem2 info.
Driver improved with autodetection error: on error the device is reinitied and read is retried.
Restore Points fixed. Now quit or power off saves restore point and can resume properly. Please delete your previous restore_point file in case it is corrupted, and check that your SD card isn't locked.

New buffering system implemented for when buffering is low, if cache becomes low, it will pause and re-buffer to fill cache-min value, to prevent possible hangs with bad connections. You can see the cache by pressing 1 twice on the wiimote, when cache drops to 3% then it will pause.
Shoutcast TV is complete with caching, thanx to Extrems, Review menu.conf.
If IOS202 is installed via the Installer then DVDx is not required for DVD Access.
New cIOS Installer MPlayerCE will now detect the presence of IOS202 to decide to use DVDx or not, so people that install the cIOS202 don't need to install DVDx to use the DVD functions. Default DVDx install can be used if you install IOS202 now. The new installer is for Homebrew USB2 only, this will install IOS202 using base IOS60 automatically as IOS60 has improvements in wifi. Now you can select the IOS to use to do the installation, so you can select a IOS with the fake sign bug. (The reason for DVDx not having to be installed if IOS202 is installed on the wii, is that there is a patch in IOS202 that doesn't require DVDx, and can access DVD without it). The cIOS is needed for MPlayerCE to use the USB2 driver. For more details read the README that is part of the package.

Конечно, как в мануале, на то он и мануал. Тем более, комплектный конфиг "smb.conf" уже настроен. Остаётся только вбить: "IP", "имя_шары", "логин" и "пароль".
я бы не стал умничать, если бы у меня заработало, а то... радио работает, что примечательно, а при попытке открыть самбу пишет "error reconnecting smb2" и независимо по мануалу конфигурить, или как это делал товарисч kfmook
может грабля и в том, что цепляюсь я к самбе на моем роутере wl500gp, и если винды к этой шаре лезут нормально, то реализация самба-клиента у этого плеера может и хромать...
Добавлено (22.05.2009, 23:00) --------------------------------------------- ну да... эти грабли я выгуглил и выяснилось, что надо конфигурировать специальным образом не плеер, а самба-сервер, а именно файл smb.conf, параметер security = USER (а не = SHARE, как было выставлено у меня)

правда производительность... смотреть фильм "Я робот" было невыносимо изза подвисаний... незнаю на чью скорость пенять - толи стэк Wii дрянной, толи у роутера отдача с USB винта дрянная (не более 2мб в секунду), толи они напару молодцы

Пинять на WiFi драйвер Wii. Здесь всё тоже самое, что и с USB1.1 драйвером от Nintendo (FTPii выдаёт DL/UP: 600/200 Кбайт/с соответственно). Однако, фильмы качества DVDRip (640х480, DivX, Xvid поток до ~3000 Кбит/с) у меня идут БЕЗ рывков. Вот DVD-Video (MPEG2 > 4000 Кбит/с) WiFi уже не тянет.

В этой версии добавлена поддержка USB драйвера от Hermes-а с улучшенной совместимостью и активацией USB LAN адаптера. Необходимо снова переустановить cIOS и DVDx.
Use IOS36 as a Base to install cIOS202 for USB2.0 supported homebrew. (Do NOT use any other base).
You must then then reinstall DVDx using advanced mode and selecting IOS202. Even if you don't plan on playing DVDs this is necessary for MPlayer CE to detect if the cIOS is installed.
Plug in your USB device before loading MPlayer, and it should be mounted. Some devices do not support hotplugging.
Users with system menu 3.4 or higher will not be able to use USB2.0 with MPlayerCE because the DVDx installer for this system does not have an advanced mode. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it.
If you plan on updating make sure to install the cIOS and DVDx before updating.
Я видимо чего-то не понимаю, но вчера все поставив и настроив, и запустив все тот же "Я, робот" с ДВД - получили кучу удовольствия наблюдать лаги. ДВД лицензионный, от лагов спасало выкидывание кадров, но качество сами понимаете какое после этого... Есть какие-то возможности это поправить?
бедная консоль... я ее наоборот перевел в режим бездисковой эксплуатации через usbloader, а вы умышленно дрючите ее фильмами на дисках... :-)
это имхо безусловно, но мне кажется шумящий, щелкающий и похоже дышащий на ладан еще с момента сборки dvd привод консоли лучше поберечь - любой бытовой dvd плеер даст фору консоли в этом качестве по всем параметрам

Хмм, у тебя, случаем, не Б/У консоль? У меня ничего не шумит. Будет тебе известно, что в Wii стоит хорошая оптика от "Matsushita", которая на порядок лучше оптики PS2, к примеру.

На "энейбл" все равно лажет - пробовали вклю4ать "хард", но это вообще жестко (зато без тормозов). Терпимо-то терпимо, но все же обидно ) Это проблема именно программы (а не консоли), я так понимаю? Будем ждать обновлений знасит.
Этой программе и года нет. Возможно, в будущем будет нормально воспроизводить DVD-Video. Там и без этого куча проблем. В последнем релизе (v0.6) уже выловил несколько багов, один из которых нестабильное монтирование USB-HDD.
Хмм, у тебя, случаем, не Б/У консоль? У меня ничего не шумит.
Я тоже заметил, что в Wii слишком хилые приводы стоят. На моей домашней консоли за год с небольшим эксплуатации привод стал полумёртвым - диски читаются через раз, постоянные ошибки, иногда диски не с первого раза воспринимаются. Лицензионные Guitar Hero III и особенно WiiFit шумят в приводе как ошалелые... На работе консоль постарше, но у неё привод в ещё более плачевном состоянии и это при том, что её кормили только лицензионной продукцией.
